StopWaste.Org has published a resource guide called "The Builder's Guide to Reuse and Recycling." This comprehensive resource is broken down into categories so you can find a recycling center for your scrap or a salvage center.
You are not recycling until you are buying recycled.
The Building Supplies & Salvage section of the guide lists locations to drop off, sell and buy salvaged building items. Even if you don’t need something right now, it is a good idea to take a field trip to these locations to understand what they carry. When you need it, you’ll know where to start looking. Save time and effort by getting familiar with the resources available to you before you need them. Good planning contributes to smooth running projects.

With the Builder’s Guide in your back pocket there is no reason NOT to recycle, unless you want to spend extra money or waste resources.
