Maintaining Your Commercial or Industrial Business Property
All areas of your property, regardless of screening or fencing, must be maintained. Special emphasis will be placed on businesses and commercial properties located on major gateways near intersections.
Storefronts and Other Facades
Facades must be maintained. If paint is cracked, blistering or peeling, surfaces must be repainted. Boarded windows must be reglazed and broken items repaired. No more than 1/3 of the glazed storefront area can be used for window advertising.
Business Activities
Commercial or industrial activities that use or store unsightly equipment or materials must be adequately screened from the public street. Fences, walls and maintained landscaping must be at least 6 ft. high, provide adequate coverage and be installed to industry standards. Fence and walls over 6 ft. high require a permit.
Unpaved Areas
Dirt areas which generate dust such as unpaved parking lots, storage yards, driveways and paths must be covered with hard surface such as asphalt, concrete or other approved material.
Cracks and Potholes
Hazardous conditions in paved surfaces such as cracks, potholes or other breaks in the driveways, parking lots or walkways must be required and maintained whether on private property or the adjacent sidewalk frontage.
Vacant Lots
Vacant lots should be properly fenced to deter illegal dumping. Do not install fencing on the public right-of-way.
